Can‘t Sleep is a point-and-click interactive game.
The main character of the story is a girl named Lilith. She lay in bed every night thinking about embarrassing things that had happened to her in the past, unable to sleep in a whirlpool of emotions. The player will use clicks to help her find a solution to the problem and eventually overcome all embarrassing experience. At the heart of the story is how to reconcile your own embarrassing feelings.
I hope the story will bring you a good experience.
This is the assignment of one of my master's projects. My supervisor gave me the following feedback.
Can’t Sleep is an excellent game and spatial storytelling experience. You’ve created a strong character told through distinctive visuals, audio and playful interactivity that takes us into her perspective, and there’s an engaging, moving and relatable theme at its heart. Your story shows clear character growth and healing in relationship with others, which is a powerful way to help others who’ve experienced these situations.
Your documentation is an excellent record of how you iterated on your idea, taking on feedback and doing further research and experimentation to inform your creative decision making. You show how specific texts and reading directly impacted and manifested in your project to create a unique experience that shows off your storytelling and art skills and has given you completely new skills in Unity development and coding. You pushed yourself really hard to get things like the jigsaw mechanic working and have shown innovation in taking the influence of Florence and adapting it to new mechanics throughout the experience. The final hairclip story contains a really nice flip in expectation.
It’s great to see too that you collaborated with a number of people in the course of the module to do creative problem solving. Well done, you should consider releasing this on itch.io for others to play.
